Ha... could not sleep so I might as well update on my trip to Esplanade to watch Cats 2 weeks ago. Yes, I went to the right place this time... after going thru 2 ERPs during peak hours + cut-throat parking fees... hahaha...
Was actually contemplating if I should catch the musical since I had already watched the DVD version previously, and frankly, I thought it was quite boring... hahahaha... but in the end, decided to, since the last time it came to Singapore, I missed it as I was just a poor sec school student... hahaha... and if I miss it now, I dun know when it will return again.
Bought tickets on the higher circle seats and I thought the design on the stage floor was really distracting... so colourful!!! cannot see some of the dancers properly. Overall, the show is not bad and the singing/dancing was great. There were also some additional scenes which were not in the DVD which I saw. I am just not happy that they charged $20 for the show booklet... so I refused to buy. If they had priced it at $15, I might even consider but $20?!? That's like 1/5 of the price of the ticket that I paid.... I might as well pay to get a better seat =D
Well, I guess most people came without any 'research' on the show... cos I heard several comments during the break like "I totally do not understand the plot", "What's the story?", "You understand the songs?" etc etc.. hahahaha.... the best comment that I overheard? "I might have considered spending $20 on the book if I had understood the plot"... hahahaha.... from an Ang Moh girl...
Actually there is not really an obvious plot in Cats, unlike Phantom, Saigon or Les Mis... the whole musical is based on a collection of poems by T.S Eliot (Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats )... so basically just go there and enjoy the dancing and songs =p
Anyway, my next target is "Sing Dollar" musical cos it is produced by the same people who brought us the "Dim Sum Dollies", and I love "Dim Sum Dollies" Hahahahaha... it is always fun to laugh at ourselves with their Singaporean/Political jokes =p
